The National Domestic Violence Hotline

Be A Man Campaign

I am extremely passionate about ending domestic violence through education, shelter, and support. During my experience as a volunteer for a domestic violence support shelter, I learned that many shelters for domestic violence victims will not accept men nor do they offer many support programs for male victims. In general, there are few resources available to male victims of domestic violence. For this project, I was tasked with creating two posters and a brochure for a non-profit organization.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides support to all victims of domestic violence, including males. To capture the attention of my male audience, I wanted to use the ironic saying "Be A Man." I say ironic because most males use the excuse that they "are a man" and therefore don't consider themselves to be victims of abuse and do not try to seek help. The reality is many men are victims of domestic violence and are unaware of the resources available to them.
